Year 4 Design Technology: Investigating Healthy Sandwich Fillings

19th Sep 2025

Our Y4 children have worked hard to design a delicious sandwich (our product) that would be suitable as a healthy lunch for a child (the user).

This was the lesson we'd been waiting for! A chance for the children to investigate a range of food products and evaluate their suitability and consider their preferences for sandwich fillings. They smapled: egg mayonnaise, tuna mayonnaise, cheddar cheese, iceberg lettuce, tomatoes, sliced ham and hot smoked salmon. For some, it was their first taste of some fillings, with the salmon being a favourite to many!

Well done to all our Y4 children!
