Y3 History: Our Incredible Roman Day!
Today, our Year 3 children travelled back in time to the era when Ancient Rome dominated much of the known world and Britain formed part of its vast empire.
The children immersed themselves enthusiastically in every aspect of the day as they explored what life was like for Roman soldiers and citizens who were based in, or had settled in, Britain. They marched to the authentic and engaging first-century Roman fort at Murton Park and experienced all it had to offer.
Through a series of interactive activities, the children learned about Roman military training, daily life, and the wider transformational impact of Roman civilisation on Britain. Led by a Centurion who gave clear and engaging instructions, they took part in many fun, memorable experiences and thoroughly enjoyed themselves throughout the day.
Our sincere thanks go to Mrs Broadhead for organising and coordinating this amazing visit. We are also very grateful to all our SJF colleagues who supported her, and to our incredible volunteers, without whom this special experience would not have been possible. Finally, we thank the team at Murton Park for leading the day so brilliantly and for taking such good care of us all. They were extremely complimentary about the manners, behaviour and engagement of our wonderful children.
