Y2 Science: Investigating Materials

19th Dec 2025

To finish our materials topic, our young Y2 scientists tested the different materials to investigate how suitable they were for keeping food dry in the rain. They wrapped sausage rolls in greaseproof paper, foil, napkins and paper bags before submerging them in water, in  the same way, so the test was fair. The children discovered that the foil was waterproof, whilst the other three materials let our sausage rolls get wet and soggy!
