Y6 Writing: London Recounts
This week, the young people of Y6 have been writing recounts of our recent visit to London. They have expertly utilised their knowledge of time adverbials, the first person, and the past tense, all of which are important conventions of recount writing. In addition to this, the children have been formulating increasingly complex sentence structures, using subordinate and relative clauses to add vivid detail to their work.
All of this hard work is resulting in some truly excellent drafts, which showcase both the developing skills of our writers and the fantastic day we had visiting landmarks like the Houses of Parliament and Westminster Abbey!
We look forward to continuing our work next week, when we shall revise, edit, and finesse our final pieces.
