Y6 Writing: Black History Month

7th Oct 2022

For Black History Month, Y6 have been studying the life of 1936 Olympic gold medalist, Jesse Owens. We have learned about the fascinating childhood, athletics career and later life of Owens. We have also discussed the racism he endured while growing up in 1930's and 40's USA, as well as his record-breaking achievements during the 1936 Berlin Olympics, which were achieved despite the prejudice of the ruling Nazi party. Finally, we created non-chronological reports to record our learning.
