This week in RE the Y6 children have been learning about the Feast of the Annunciation, which celebrates the moment that the Angel Gabriel informed Mary that she would bear the Son of God. We have studied various artistic depictions of the Annunciation throughout history, including works by Dante Gabriel Rossetti and Federico Barocci, and in doing so we have thought critically about the symbolism within each painting and how this relates to the account of the Annunciation given in the Gospel of Luke.
