Y6 RE: The Annunciation

This week the children of Year 6 have been learning about the Annunciation, the moment at which the Angel Gabriel appeared to Mary and informed her that she would be the mother of the Messiah, God's son. We studied various artistic depictions of the Annunciation, critiquing each and relating the imagery to what we know of this event from scripture. We also discussed the context in which some of the artwork was produced, the intentions of the artists and, more generally, how art has been a medium through which Christianity has been represented for millennia.
