Y4 Science: Investigating Digestion

14th Nov 2025

In science, our Y4 children are learning all about digestion.

They have learned that the first step in the digestive process begins in the mouth as teeth and saliva help to transform food into a paste that can be swallowed.

This week, they children learned about the importance of looking after our teeth and how different drinks can damage the enamel, leading to decay and staining if not cleaned properly.

They then tested the impact of water (our control group), milk, fresh orange juice, black coffee and coca cola.  Some of the results were surprising, as our Y4 children will explain!

Well done Y4, your experiments worked well.
