Y4 Science: Investigating Electrical Circuits

19th Mar 2026

In Science our Y4 children have been trying to apply their knowledge about the components in electrical circuits as they have designed working circuits to power burglar alarms.

They learned that some alarms are activated when pressure is applied (a push-to-make design) whereas other alarms are activated when pressure is removed (push-to-break design).

They decided that push-to-break design would be more suitable for protecting a precious artefact in a museum rather than as a burglar alarm at home.
