Y4 Science : Experiments with Sound

We have had more fun with our science learning this week, conducting two more experiments with sound.

  • Experiment 1: Does sound change with distance?
    • we conducted this experiment outside
  • Experiment 2: Does sound travel through solids?
    • all you need is a wire coat hanger, string and a tuning fork!

Our Y4 scientists concluded that the greater the distance, the quieter the sound. Eventually, sounds became inaudible. They also concluded that sound travels very well through solids, even with your fingers in your ears!
