Y4 Science: Investigating Changes of State
14th May 2026
Our Y4 children carried out an experiment to find the most effective way to speed up evaporation—testing how quickly a wet paper towel would dry. They explored three methods: heat (using a hairdryer), moving air (on a washing line outside), and increased surface area (laid flat on a table).
They correctly predicted that heat would be the most effective, with moving air a close second. our Y4 children now understand that the best way to dry washing is outside on a warm, dry, and breezy day. Well done everyone!
