Y4 History: Life in Ancient Greece

9th May 2024

This week the children of Y4 have been learning about everyday life in Ancient Greece.

Working in groups, the children researched different aspects of life from a range of secondary sources of evidence, before reporting their findings back to classmates.

Did you know?

  • only boys went to school in Ancient Greece?
    • girls were taught skills such as cooking and making clothes
  • Greek soldiers were not paid the same as Roman soldiers
    • many slaves were used to carry weapons and armour into battles.
  • only the very richest people had indoor kitchens and bathrooms
    • some had an extra room known as an Andron - a room specifically for male guests

The children all worked really hard to create their presentations, using some excellent teamwork and sharing ideas. The presentations were a great opportunity to share that work with the rest of the class.

Well done, everyone!
