Y4 English: Creating Character Descriptions

28th Nov 2025

Our Y4 children have worked hard this week to complete their latest English unit: a character description inspired by Roald Dahl’s The Twits. They explored the features of effective character writing and learned how to improve their work using expanded noun phrases, as well as vivid adjectives and adverbs.

Each child invented a new character to add to Dahl’s story and described, in wonderful detail, what Mr and Mrs Twit’s son or daughter might be like. They had great fun creating their characters and bringing them to life. Roald Dahl would have been proud! Fantastic work, everybody!
