Y4 Design and Technology: Desiging and Making a Burglar Alarm

20th May 2025

This week, our Y4 children transferred their scientific knowledge into their DT lesson when they first designed, and then constructed a circuit that could be used in burglar alarm.

The children tested their circuits to see if they worked illuminate a small bulb, then they added a buzzer to sound the alarm. The children learned about some of the different sorts of switches that are used in alarms and decided that a 'push to make' alarm would work well for this purpose, concealed under the doormat of a house!

Here they are, testing out their circuit designs in class. Well done to all Y4 designers!
