Y3 RE: Exploring Sikhism

21st Jun 2024

In Y3, the children have been focusing on the Gurdwara as part of our Sikhism topic.

Today they learned about langar and participated in a version of the Langar this afternoon.

The children made their way to the dining hall (the langar) where  a shared meal was eaten. This meal was free for everyone.

Sikh families take it in turn to prepare it, today it was Mrs Broadhead and Mrs Steenson.

The food is always vegetarian so everyone can enjoy the meal. The children shared vegetable curry and chapatis. Then for dessert they had flapjack and chocolate fingers! Hospitality and service are very important aspects of the Sikh life, so we tried to represent that today.
