Y2 Be Safe Be Happy Week 2025: Water Safety

7th Nov 2025

We were so grateful to Tony from the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) for visiting us to talk to the children about water safety and the incredible work of RNLI volunteers.

The children were fascinated to learn that the RNLI’s all-weather lifeboats can re-right themselves — meaning that if they capsize, they automatically turn upright again within just five seconds! Everyone thought that was amazing.

They also discovered the meanings of different distress signals, such as “Mayday” and “SOS.”

Thank you, Tony — we all came away with a new-found appreciation for the RNLI and the life-saving work its volunteers do every day!
