Our Y1 pupils have been enjoying their role as plant detectives this week. After exploring garden plants before the recent holiday, the children turned their attention to wild plants and weeds. They learned that weeds are simply wild plants growing in places where we may not want them. Working in pairs, the children searched for a variety of wild plants around the school grounds, using identification keys to name them and record their findings. Back in the classroom, they shared and discussed their discoveries, demonstrating excellent observation, teamwork and scientific thinking.
