Y1 Science: Exploring Animals Features

17th Nov 2025

Our Y1 children have been learning about the body parts that some animals have and humans do not. Examples include tusks, horns, fins, wings, fur, feathers, claws, paws and even a trunk. Everyone then designed their own imaginary animal, choosing a mix of different body parts.

As a class, we discussed which animal groups (fish, bird, mammal, amphibian or reptile) each creation might belong to—and decided that most of them actually fitted into more than one group!
