Y1 Maths: Measuring Lengths

23rd Jun 2025

Our Y1 children have been using standard measures to compare different lengths. First they used a metre stick to estimate if objects were longer, taller or shorter than a metre. The children then estimated the length of the classroom, managing to make some really sensible guesses, for example, 6 metres (m), 7m and 8m. When measured, the children discovered that it was actually 9 metres.

Please look out for the maths home learning sheet that will be sent home on Friday, and go through it together. Thank you.
