Y1 Visit to Whirlow Hall Farm

21st Oct 2025

What an amazing day our Y1 children enjoyed at Whirlow Hall Farm.

The first half of the day centred on the farm itself, and its animals - a number of which the children were able to observe, touch and and even feed.

During second half of the day the children were able to walk through open woodland and along paths, investigating signs of autumn. They even went on an exciting mini-beast and leaf hunt through the gardens, finding different creatures in their habitats and using a reference card to identify different leaves. The day was capped with a fantastic scavenger hunt and a quick game of 'Duck-Duck-Goose'!

We thank our wonderful Y1 children, who were an absolute credit to our school! Sincere thanks also must go to our team of parent/carer volunteers, who accompanied us, and made this visit possible.

We thank the team at Whirlow Hall Farm, for welcoming us and looking after us so well all day, which is all the more amazing because they did not charge us a fee.

Finally we thank Mrs Sambrook for organising and coordinating this important visit. Whirlow hall Farm is also a special place you can visit as a family.
