Y2 Art & Design: Investigating Texture!

Our Y2 children have investigated what texture is. 

They considered various questions, including:

  • What are the textures of a range of different materials?
  • How was texture used by Henri Matisse in his work, ‘The Snail'?
  • What materials did he decide to use?
  • Can I identify the content (what it is)?
  • Can I identify the form (light/dark)?
  • Can I consider the process (how it is made)?
  • Can I describe the mood of the piece (the feelings created)?

The children then created their own pictures using a variety of textures, inspired by nature's inspiration!
