Statutory Assessments

8th May 2022

We are now in the statutory assessment season.

The government is keen for assessments to go ahead after two years of cancellations due to the COVID pandemic.

The children in Y2 have started their statutory tests (SATs), and these will continue throughout June in a very gentle and understated way.

The children of Y6 will have their statutory assessments (SATs) next week. Attendance is therefore even more important than usual, at this time.

A reminder that the key assessment areas cover all age groups and are set out below:

  • FS2 - a formal check on children’s progress in their key foundation year against the Early Learning Goals
  • Y1 - National Phonics Screening
  • Y2 - end of Key Stage 1 statutory assessments (SATs) & follow-up National Phonics Screening*
  • Y3 - writing moderation
  • Y4 - formal multiplication tables assessment and writing moderation
  • Y5 - writing moderation
  • Y6 - end of Key Stage 2 statutory assessments (SATs) *for children who did not achieve the standard in Y1
