SJF World Book Day 2023!

24th Feb 2023

Next Thursday 2nd of March 2023 is World Book Day!

Across the country children in schools will mark this special day in different ways.

At St John Fisher we will have a non-uniform day and would like to invite the children to either dress down or dress up when they come to school.

They can dress down and simply come to school wearing their favourite clothes or they can choose to dress up as a book character if they prefer.

It does not matter.

The decision to leave things open and relaxed as far as dressing up or down is concerned has been a deliberate one, because we just want the children to have a happy day. We also do not want to put any of our busy parents/carers under any unnecessary pressure.

We know that some children really love to dress up, and if this is the case, they can. Homemade outfits, especially those put together by the children themselves from this and that, will always look fantastic.

There really is no need to spend lots of money buying expensive costumes.

We also know that some children do not really enjoy dressing up, and will prefer to simply wear their favourite comfortable clothes on World Book Day, instead. It is also worth remembering that many of the best book characters and heroes wear normal clothes like this too.

So, whatever the children want to wear, as long as it is also practical, will be fine.
