SJF Sports Day 2026

27th Apr 2026

A reminder that this year’s event takes place on Friday 22nd May 2026 and on the day, all children must come to school wearing their SJF PE uniform.

Timings mean that we will not be able to provide hot lunches on that day. Instead, children can either select the  sandwich option from the school menu or come to school on the day with a suitable packed lunch prepared at home.

Morning Activities

Our 'Festival of Sport' takes place in the morning. The children will be divided into mixed-age teams and complete a circuit of different activities and challenges led by different staff members and volunteers. This is a closed event, meaning that there are no spectators.

Afternoon Competition for Younger Children

We invite parents/carers with children in FS2, Y1 and Y2 to join us from 12.45pm. Please queue outside school until it is time to enter. Once in school, please remain on the field and do not try to enter school. Please supervise any pre-school children closely and do not allow them to use our playground equipment. If you need anything, including the toilet, please go straight to the school office and ask. Do not try to enter school yourself. Obviously, there is no entry to school buildings directly from the field, in line with safeguarding rules.

Events for children in FS2, Y1 and Y2 will take place between 1.00pm and 2.00pm. When they are finished, the children will go back to class. Parents/carers will have an option to stay and watch the older children’s competition, or to take their children straight home. Parents/carers wishiing to take their children home should wait in the area outside of the School Office, and they will be brought down to them.

Younger children with older siblings competing in the later competition must remain in class. They cannot be collected and taken up to the field watch the older children race.

Afternoon Competition for Older Children

Parents/Carers with children in Y3, Y4, Y5 and Y6 are invited in from 1.45pm. Please queue outside the double gates in the paish car park and wait to be admitted. The events for older children will take place between 2.00pm and 3.00pm. At the end of the races the children will return to class.

End of the Day

All events are scheduled to finish by 3.00pm and parents and carers are asked to wait on the main playground for their children to be released. Please do not try to access the school building at any point.

Social Media and Sports Day

Staff will take lots of photographs throughout the day, including from the Festival of Sport in the morning. These will be made available on our website to view and download, and will exclude images of those children who cannot be photographed or filmed for different reasons. Whilst parents and carers may photograph/video their own children, from their seats, we ask that these are not uploaded to social media if they include images of other children whose parents have not given permission, anywhere in the photo.

Important Reminders:

  • Please stay in your places and be considerate of other spectators.
  • Please do not smoke or vape on the school site (you can leave the site if you need to smoke or vape).
  • Please supervise younger children and do not use any school playground equipment, or let them use it.
  • Please do not bring dogs on to the site!
  • Please ensure that all litter goes in the bins or is taken off site with you.
  • Please, do not enter the building unless you have permission from the office team to use the adult toilet.
  • Please wait outside, by the school entrance, if you want to take your younger children straight home after their competition.
  • Please to not try to collect younger children after their competition if you are not going straight home.
  • Please do not post to social media any photographs/videos that include the images of other children.

Thank you for your cooperation and support.
