SJF Eco Council: Meet the Team!

11th Sep 2025

Mrs Steenson, Coordinator

This week, our new SJF Eco Team had a very exciting week! They met for the first time to discuss their main aims for the school year, and to sign our Eco Pledge. The children really demonstrated how excited they all are to get stuck in!

As they discussed their goals for the year, the children made some ardent points, explaining passionately their motivations and it made me very excited to see what they will achieve this year!

The children have come up with a shortlist of goals and our focus for this term will be decided shortly. Among the many sugestions on the list are included:

  • recycling
  • litter picking
  • sustainable school dinners
  • street parking at school drop off and many others

This year, we the team will also focus on applying for grants, as well doing some of their own fundraising, with plans to work with the SJF School Council to make effective and positive changes to our outdoor spaces. Everyone is looking forward to making some great advancements this year. The Eco Team will also complete an 'Annual Environmental Review' in the next SJF Eco Team meeting, soon.

Charlotte, a past member of the Eco Team and one of our current member, now in Y6, talked about how excited she is to be back.

"I am glad to be back in the Eco Team with some new members. I think we will have an even better year with all of the new ideas they have brought to the meeting."
