Y1 Science: Investigating Wild Flowers

17th Jun 2024

Our Y1 children have been learning about wild flowers and how they are plants that grow naturally - and that we may not plant ourselves.

They discussed simple seed dispersal and how the wind helps to move seeds from one place to another. They learned that some people call wild flowers 'weeds' because they are not always wanted. Lots of the children explained that they have daisies, buttercups and dandelions where they live.

The children worked in pairs to record information about wild flowers found on the school field, thinking carefully about flowers, leaves and the heights of the different plants.
