Y1 Science: Understanding Our Bodies

9th Sep 2024

Our Y1 scientists began their new Science topic by recalling what they already knew about the human body, trying hard to use correct terms.

Examples of what the children remembered included: we have bones and a skull; we have noses to help us breathe; food gets to our stomach by eating.

The children enjoyed singing the 'Heads, shoulders, knees and toes' song, which we extended to include the neck, wrist, hip and foot. They watched a short film about the body and played 'Body Bingo' which linked to activities within our provision. Everyone worked so well and had fun!

Next week we will focus on our senses and the body parts linked with each sense.
