Y1 Safer Internet Day 2025

11th Feb 2025

It was Safer Internet Day this week and our Y1 children hada good think about what the internet is used for, including, playing games online, watching videos and TV shows, finding information and talking connecting with family and friends.

As the children were talking they began to think about how the internet is open to everyone. This meant that a lot of people are online and they would not know most of them.

They had fun helping Buddy - the dog in our story - to make sensible choices whenever he felt a bit worried using his tablet, phone or laptop computer. The children then thought carefully about who their trusted adults are. Everyone then drew around their own hands and wrote names of who those they could go to, to TELL! TELL! TELL! if they ever felt unsure, worried, scared or confused by something they might see or hear online.

We reminded them that they should ALWAYS be with an adult if they are online, someone who can help them and keep them safe.
