Pupil Voice: SJF Eco Team Update

1st Feb 2026

Mrs Steenson, Coordinator

This week, Our SJF Eco Team reviewed their plans for 2026, reflecting on their initial agenda and agreeing key priorities for the year ahead. A major focus will be a long-term fundraising project, planned to culminate in the Y5 Enterprise, alongside continued work on sustainability.

Recycling remains a priority, with pupils proposing a community campaign to encourage local residents to recycle at home—an idea led by a Y5 member. Looking ahead to spring, the team also plans to carry out a bird and bug count, comparing results with last year’s data to see whether further action is needed to attract wildlife to the school grounds.

Eliana Y3, supported by Chenai Y6 and Natalia Y6, shared: “We discussed a bug and bird count, which we are all looking forward to. We want to see whether wildlife has increased or decreased and what we can do to help. We also talked about sustainability, recycling and fundraising in the summer.”

The team will meet again before the end of Term 3 to complete their wildlife counts, and findings will be shared shortly afterwards.
