Y1 Science: Investigating Plants

24th Apr 2021

Today we have been learning about the parts of a plant using key vocabulary such as: leaf, flower, petal, seed, stem and roots.

The children compared cut flowers and a potted plant to investigate how they are similar and different.

They then looked at videos and plants/flowers outside before labelling a diagram.

The children have also started to learn the functions of each part of the plant and planted their own seeds today too for various things including, runner beans, nasturtiums  and cress.

We will take care of them as we watch them grow and develop, identifying the parts that we can see.
