Panto 2024

30th Nov 2024

Lyceum Pantomime 2024 A reminder that the whole school community will visit the famous Lyceum Theatre, Sheffield, on Wednesday 11th December 2024, to watch this year's panto, ‘Snow White’ featuring Catherine Tyldersley (Strictly Come Dancing, Coronation Street), Gladiator's Viper Quang Luong, Sheffield's favourite Dame, Damian Williams and Sheffield's own, Matthew Croke, plus Marc Pickering, George Akid and Aoife Kenny.

As the performance starts at 1.00pm, we will leave school at 12.00pm in order to arrive and settle the children in good time. The show will last for approximately 2.5 hours. As we are leaving at noon, the children will have an early packed lunch, at 11.00am, so they are fed and ready, when it is time to depart. Though we hope to return by 4.30pm our arrival time will be dictated by many factors, including: performance-length (which can vary from show to show); the time taken to leave the theatre safely, afterwards; the time taken to meet and board our coaches; and the traffic on the homeward journey. Recently it has been closer to 5.00pm.

To avoid any hanging about we therefore ask that, this year, you arrive at school at 5.00pm.

We would be grateful if those collecting the children could wait on the playground and not on the pavement outside school. The school gates will be opened at 4.45pm. Staff will be stationed on all gates once the children are back, to ensure that no child leaves the school site unaccompanied. As it will be dark when we return, and the children will be tired, staff and volunteers will work hard to ensure that they keep track of every child. We therefore ask you to be patient whilst waiting for your children, and again stress the importance of waiting on the playground and not on the pavement outside. This is extremely important.  Waiting on the pavement causes congestion, making it more difficult for the adults supervising the children.   Once in school the children will collect their things, before being released from their classrooms on to the playground in the usual way. The younger children will be brought down - and - because it will be dark, we ask that those collecting them listen carefully and make themselves known when their child’s name is called. If there are significant delays we will send out notifications and updates via text, so please ensure that we have your up-to-date contact details.

Again, we thank our fantastic PTFA for all their support. They are covering the significant transport costs and they are providing volunteers to accompany us on the day.

Parking on Panto Day...

Last year our six coaches struggled to make their way up Spring Water Avenue, because of the way some people had parked or left their vehicles. To avoid a repeat of this, and to ensure that we can get our tired children back in to school as soon as possible, please avoid parking on Spring Water Avenue at all, if you can, and certainly avoid parking anywhere near school. If you are willing and able to park further away, it will help us a lot. Thank you.
