Y1 History: Investigating Transport Old and New!

The children have been thinking about transport and how it has changed over the years. 

They began by watching a video showing different types of transport and played a matching game, in which they were challenged to pair different images of older forms of transport with their more modern counterparts. 

The children had to think about the clues that revealed whether a vehicle was older or newer, and apply this knowledge in order to make decisions about different vehicles. To help them they reflected on questions like:

  • Have we we have seen one of these vehicles before?
  • What looks different on this vehicle compared to a newer version of it?
  • What materials have been used to build this vehicle and does this provide clues to its age? 

Finally the children then completed their own recording. 

Thank you to all the children who brought in items related to the great work completed at home. We had photographs, models and pictures.
