Y1 Mathematics: Investigating Mass and Weight!

The children have been using the balance scales to compare the mass of different objects - saying which which is heavier and lighter. They were able to explain that the heavier objects went lower on the balance and the lighter object were higher.

In future lessons the children will measure weight using different non-standard units of measure before being introduced to standard units.
