Y1 Mathematics: Investigating Length!

29th Apr 2022

The children have been comparing their heights using key words:

  • tall/taller/tallest
  • short/shorter/shortest

They compared the length of cube 'snakes' using key words: short, shorter, shortest, long, longer and longest. The children used strips of paper and cubes to make lengths that were longer, shorter and put them in order from the shortest to longest length.

Next they will be trying to measure heights and lengths using non-standard units of measure, for example, hands and feet.
