Y1 Mathematics: Comparing Numbers

our Y1 mathematicians have been investigating and comparing different numbers from 11 to 20. 

Last week they thought about their position on a number line and and where they are in relation to zero. They realised that the number nearest zero was smaller and the number farthest from zero was the greater. 

Today they investigated number using a tens frame, as they tried to notice what happened when they added the extra ones. They realised that this made it easier to compare numbers.
