PE Update: LINKS Orienteering Competition

17th Jun 2022

By Jenson and Jacob (Y3)

This week a mixed-age group of children from KS2 went to Norfolk Heritage Park to take part in an orienteering event. When we arrived we got instructions from a very helpful woman about what we would be doing on the day.

We then split into teams ready to compete. We were given a map and a small card with numbers on it. We were shown how to use the map correctly, so we knew which way was north and where we should position the map at all times. On the map were numbers that we had to go find as quickly as possible in the park. We checked off each number by stamping the card we were given with a unique stamp at each flag. We worked in pairs in our groups, going together to find flags in numerical order. As a team we came 3rd we were all very proud.

This event was very fun and hard work. We definitely want to do more orienteering in the future!
