Y1: Jack and the Beanstalk

20th Apr 2021

Today we started work on our key text for this term.

The children came into class to find HUGE footprints on the floor and a bowl of beans, that came with instructions to plant them. The children then predicted who might have been in class overnight.

We then read the book together; the children joining in with the repeated refrains such as:

"Fee Fi Fo Fum, I smell the blood of an Englishman!"

The children worked with finger puppets in order to act out the story in small groups. They used lots of fantastic story language as they acted out the role of their characters brilliantly.

What a super way to embed their understanding of the story!
