Y1 Writing Instructions: How to make a Jam Sandwich!

This week we had lots of fun making our own jam sandwiches, we then wrote detailed instructions explaining how to make our sandwich.

The children thought carefully about starting their instructions with an imperative or 'bossy' verb, for example:

  • "Get the ingredients you need to make a sandwich." 
  • "Spread the butter carefully."
  • "Put the jam on the knife."

 

The best bit was definitely eating the sandwich!
