Y1 Geography: Understanding the 'Plan View'!

24th Nov 2022

Following on from our work last week (when the children made representations of school from above using objects around the classroom), the children created a drawn plan of our school.

We began again by looking at school from above using digital maps and had a good think about what things would look like from above if we could lift off the roof.

The children asked lots of fantastic questions as we talked about it before the children came to the conclusion that they would be able to see shapes but not lots of detail or height.

With this important information in mind, the children then had a good go at creating their own plans. It was  a tricky task that stretched them, but it was also a great way for them to practise creating and using plan drawings so that they can show how much they really know our school!
