Y2 Mathematics: Exploring Arrays!

9th Jan 2025

Our magnificent Y2 mathematians begin their first introduction to multiplication and division this term. To start, we looked at equal groups and placed them in 'arrays'.

An array is an arrangement of objects, pictures or numbers in rows and columns as a useful way of representing deas in maths, including for multiplication.

The children were encouraged to share statements about their arrays like:

"I have two parts, each with five in. My whole is ten."
