Eco Team Update: Our Swift Box Competition Winners!

16th Apr 2025

Following on from our last update from the SJF Eco Team, the winning design was skillfully painted on to our new school swift box ans water-proofed by Mrs Steenson!

Our SJF Eco Team were very happy to present it to our overall winner, Caitlyn in Y5, with the nesting box, and a small token of her win.

The team also handed out prizes to the winners in FS2, KS1 and KS2. Their designs were also beautifully unique, which made the judging very difficult indeed.

After the presentation, Caitlyn was invited to join an SJF Eco Team meeting, in which future plans and ideas were discussed.

Caitlyn, the Swiftbox design winner, was very happy with the final nesting box.

”I am very proud of the nesting box - I am so happy that I won the competition, and the painting looks just like my design!”

Lincoln, a Y6 member, also liked the design on the Swiftbox.

”Caitlyn’s design is brilliant! It was a perfect choice for the nesting box and everyone will love it when they see it!”

The decorated box will be placed onto the school building before the end of term in May - the time when Swifts will come back to the UK from Africa to nest. We hope we see lots of swifts using it soon, and for many years to come.
