SJF Eco Team Update

14th Mar 2025

This week, our SJF Eco Team has been looking forward to enjoying some of the lovely weather, and discussed how we can all spend some more time outdoors...

Using the Nature Park App, the children decided to undertake a minibeast hunt in the remaining weeks of Term 4. Following the guidance from Nature Parks, closely, they will find and count insects around the school grounds, carefully, before uploading data to the app. They are also hoping to encourage and increase our minibeast population in the future with the introduction of more bug hotels to some of the less used areas around school grounds.

Jai and Jasper, Eco Team members from Y6 and Y3, are looking forward to using the Nature Park app again next week.

“We are excited to get outdoors this term for our first mini beast count. We are hoping to introduce a bug hotel and see what the impact will be on pollinators. Hopefully, we will see a lot more friendly insects as it gets even warmer.”

The minibeast hunt is a fun challenge that we will complete alongside our Swift Box Competition (which remain open to anyone wanting to take part, until Thursday 27th of March 2025.

If you would like another competition sheet, please ask one of your SJF Eco Team representatives.

Thank you to everyone who has entered the competition so far – the entries are amazing!
