Y1 Design Technology: Designing & Making Our Own Vehicles

20th Mar 2024

Having previously investigated various (toy) vehicles, the children were more comfortable using key words like chassis, axel and wheels, because they understood what they were. The children then began designing their own vehicles, working cooperatively together, sharing ideas.

Using their designs, this week the children made their vehicles; adding axels and wheels to the chassis the had created, before adding extra parts to further personalise their designs - being careful to refer their designs.

Next week the children will test and evaluate their vehicles.

Here is a selection of some of the vehicles. All children made one but as some added their full names prominently to their vehicles, they were not be added to this selection of photos.
