Y1 Black History Month: Investigating Bessie Coleman

23rd Oct 2020

During Black History Month the Y1 children listened to a story about Bessie Coleman who defied all the odds in order to achieve her dream to become the first female pilot in 1922.

We also talked about our own dreams and what we would like to do when we get older and the children shared these with each other.

They ranged from some being a footballer, dancer, popstar, a nurse, teacher, a car mechanic and an Xbox player! There were so many to choose from!

Bessie Coleman really inspired all the children to dream big!
