Be Safe - Be Happy Week 2025

31st Oct 2025

The first week of Term 2 is traditionally our 'Be Safe - be Happy Week'. It has evolved from the national Anti-Bullying Week, and whilst bullying is an issue that is explored seriously and in age-appropriate ways, the focus has been expanded to encompass personal and physical safety and wellbeing too.

This year's packed programme, which is being coordinated by Mr MacInnes, our curriculum lead, is shaping up to be one of the best yet. During this special week the children will benefit from a range of lessons and activities delivered by SJF staff and visitors that promote safety and good physical and mental health and wellbeing, positively and in a range of accessible and age-appropriate ways.

Our SJF staff will deliver a range of sessions that will include exploring issues linked to:

  • bullying and the importance of treating others with respect and kindness
  • being safe firework night and antisocial behaviour
  • personal physical safety (NSPCC 'Pants' lessons)
  • too much screentime and being safe online
  • personal safety and not talking to strangers
  • road safety
  • basic first aid
  • personal health and wellbeing - maintaining good sleep and dietary habits
  • personal health and wellbeing - being outside in nature, gardening and spring bulb planting

We are also grateful to the various visitors and partners who will lead the following sessions and activities:
