Y3 Art: Experimenting with Clay

12th May 2025

Today our Y3 children experimented with clay. They imagined that they were Barbara Hepworth as they explored how to mould and manipulate the clay.

Time to experiment!

Our Y3 children used the special tools that they had been given to help them cut, mould and shape the clay in to various structures.

They had to think about:

  • which tool they needed for cutting
  • which tools would be better for shaping and modelling
  • whether to use the tools to add texture to the structures being created, or not - and if so, which one?
  • whether it was possible to use any of the tools to cut and model the clay into a shape with smooth edges

They had a great experimenting!
