Y1 Art: Our Joan Miro-Inspired Sculptures!

30th Jan 2023

The children have been learning about the Spanish artist, Joan Miro.

After exploring some of his sculptures, they had a go at creating their own Miro-inspired designs.

Last week everyone started to transform their designs in to their own sculptures, using air drying clay. Before they could do this they had to learn how to roll, squash, pinch and shape the clay. they also had to learn how to add 'slip' like a glue to join different pieces. Once the sculptures are dry they will be painted.

Please look out for the children's work at our next SJF Curriculum Showcase towards the end of Term 4.
