Y1 Art: Colour Mixing

9th Sep 2023

This week we have started by investigating primary colours (red, yellow and blue) and how to use powder paint.

though it was tricky at first, the children used the rhyme "dip it, dab it, pick it up, mix it" to mix the powder and water correclty.

Children started their colour wheels and next week they will use it and everything we have learned so far in order to create new (secondary) colours, but mixing primary colours.

Later in the term they will explore the life of the famous artist, Wassily Kandinsky, who used colour-mixing within his art. The children will then all contribute to a beautiful large piece of Year 1 art inspired by Mr Kandinsky.
