Our Y3 Advent Wreath

27th Nov 2025

Today, the Y3 children gathered greenery and helped create the class Advent wreath.

The Advent wreath symbolises the weeks of waiting for the birth of Jesus. Its circular shape represents God’s eternal love, and the use of evergreens signifies eternal life. The four candles — lit one each Sunday — represent the virtues of hope, peace, joy and love.

Traditionally, there are three purple candles (for penance) and one rose-coloured candle for the third, or Gaudete Sunday, which marks the nearing of Christmas and symbolises joy.
