Advent Wreath

28th Nov 2024
This week our class has been getting prepared for the Advent Wreath blessing. Each child collected some evergreen and placed in into the Advent Wreath.
The evergreen circle is a symbol of eternal life. The green evergreen is a symbol of hope. The four candles recall the weeks that pass through Advent. The purple candles symbolise waiting. The pink candle, for the third Sunday of Advent, symbolises rejoicing (Gaudete). As the candles are lit, the light is used as a symbol of Christ being the light of the world coming through the darkness.
